FANTASY FORMULA 1 WITH THE POPPS (AND ALSO ALONSO)

The Race in Spain was Mainly Dull and Plain

Those first few laps were great, but after that it was nap time until the end when Norris and Leclerc almost caught who they were chasing… but they didn’t.

Leave it our league to show the F1 guys how drama is done! Margins of victory were microscopic this round with the largest being 23 points, and the narrowest was 3 measly points!

Let’s start by pointing out the heartbreakers that come with the close contests… “Don’t Push My Jensen” (Kellee) finished “on the podium” with the 3rd highest score of the week. But instead of celebrating a win, she ended up losing to the highest score of the week by “Poleless Crew” (Christina) who is recovering from a shaky start to the season by lining up 3 straight wins.

Speaking of heartbreak, “Got in there.” (Joe) took a 10 point penalty for an extra roster swap, but then lost by 3 to another late br(e)aker, “Lil Smeardy” (Lucie) who has won 2 straight.

The top 4 teams in the standings all managed to win in Spain. The newest member of which is “Heff Fwuan” (Mark), who seems to have recovered from HAASmaggedon in Monaco.

But I’ve saved the biggest heartbreak for last. We knew when we changed to a head to head format that things wouldn’t necessarily line up with the official F1 Fantasy site, but we… had… no… idea. Our points leader sits in 12th place — out of 12 teams. Yep, “Thanks But No Planks” (Tom) has lost 7 in a row, but it’s not for a lack of scoring. Seems people like playing chips against our reigning champ. But even through the chip was on the other foot (Tom played his autopilot card, which had no affect), and he scored a good lot of points (he was tied for 5th in points for the week), that couldn’t stop the streak. But fear not, we’re not even to the midway point of the season yet!

But while we’re talking about progress. Wouldn’t it be cool to know how everyone doing with their budgets?
