Mainly, the standings.  Teams still score points for their drivers’ performance each race, but instead of those points being added to their total points, and that total dictate where they are in the league standings… each team will play against another team every race and the winner is determined by their point total for THAT race only! You win your matchup, you get a win, and the standings are determined by wins and losses, rather than total points.

Chips are still a part of the game! They certainly affect your race score the weekEND you play them, and in some ways it’s even more strategic whilst playing head-to-head. Do you save them until later in the season?  Do you use them at the beginning of the season to build up a lead?  See?  Strategy!

F1 Fantasy Chips and their meanings

Autopilot – will change the DRS Boost selection and give it to a team’s highest scoring driver if that driver wasn’t already selected for it.

Extra DRS Boost – will triple a driver’s points tally over a grand prix weekend. It is given alongside DRS Boost, so two drivers will have their points tally either doubled or tripled for a round.

No Negative – prevents any drivers or constructors from scoring minus points over a grand prix weekend. It is new for 2024, however it does not prevent minus points from being applied for making more than the permitted number of free transfers.

Wildcard – allows an F1 Fantasy player to make unlimited changes to its team – while sticking to your current budget – without a points penalty occurring.

Limitless – is similar to the wildcard chip on F1 Fantasy. Once it has been activated, a player can make an unlimited number of transfers to their team without having to comply with the $100m budget. However, it can only be used for one race, so the original team will be restored afterwards unlike the wildcard chip.

Final fix – allows a player to make one change to its team between the end of qualifying and the start of the race – even if they’ve already used all the permitted free transfers. After the race, your roster will revert to how it was before the chip was played.

No, Final Fix Chips are for Drivers only.

The ones that are always discussed are:

  • Fastest Lap: Both. The driver and constructor get the 10 points for this one.
  • Driver of the Day: Driver only, worth 10 points.
  • Fastest Pit Stop: Constructor only. The 3 fastest pit stops are worth 10, 5, and 3 points respectively.  It’s possible for one constructor to get 18 points for having the 3 fastest pit stops of the race.
